Another Funfilled Couple of Days

the wedding was great! i danced my ass off, had such a blast, and got to see alot of people that i don't get to see too regularly. except for the repeated "when are you going to start having children" talk, it was a really good time. i barely stayed at my table to avoid most of those questions.

i came home on sunday took a short nap and relaxed, relaxed, relaxed...

monday i took a ride to my mother-in-law's house to drop off grandma for a few days so she could spend time seeing family and friends. i rescheduled my GYN appointment for that wednesday so that i wouldn't have to wait another week and a half for my results.

then the phone rings at about 5:00 pm. i see the GYN practice's name on the caller id and think, "it's a little early to confirm for wednesday?" well then i answer and its the certified nurse midwife that i met with a few weeks earlier, the one who ordered a bazillion tests and was supposed to review everything during an appointment in the office. i explained this but said it was ok, i could do this over the phone no problem. then came the blow..."everything is normal."

many people may think that i am crazy for saying it is a blow, but to me it was. i know there is something not quite right with me. i have done enough research about conceiving (as i do with every new endeavor i begin) to understand that when you can't pinpoint ovulation and don't even know if it is happening, there is at least a small thing out of whack. the midwife's answer was to try for a few more months to see if i become regular and if it doesn't happen or i don't get pregnant, then i can see a doctor in the practice.

here is my major question: how can i become regular out of the blue in the next few months, if i have never been regular in my entire life without the assistance of birth control?! i'm thinking her plan is doomed from the start and now i want REAL answers.

so i post on my trusty message boards to get some objective opinions...everyone says i should see a reproductive endocrinologist...women who have spent years upon years and lots of good money to conceive. everyone agrees that i know my own body and if i think that there is something wrong, then i am probably right.

my next step was to call a well known practice in my area (after of course checking my insurance plan for coverage limitations and participating members), and ask if i am truly a candidate for their services or if i am just going bonkers. to my surprise they have a liason for these sort of questions. i left a message and within the hour a representative called me back. after a short conversation with her (consisting of my story being explained for the five thousandth time and a few valid questions on her behalf) she encouraged me to make an appointment for a consultation.

so on november 1st, mike and i will (hopefully) getting ourselves onto the right track to get this party started!!!
